a celebration of (re)velation

jean jackets to (re)veal the beauty & anointing of another

This is what I have decided

After thinking it over for a while

Life’s not meant to be a straight line

Or even a smooth ride

I like paintings that are layered

Dappled textures and blurred-out lines

Sometimes the artist only knows what he’s painting

Through messes and wasted time

And all these years I was worried by the errors I was making

And all this time I thought I was missing every turn I should be taking

But maybe it’s more like

We’re a canvas on a painter’s stand

My work is loving the world.

Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird –

equal seeks of sweetness.

Here the quickening yeast; there the blue plums.

Here the clam deep in the speckled sand.

Are my boots old ? Is my coat torn ?

Am I no longer young, and still not half-perfect ? Let me

keep my mind on what matters,

which is my work,

which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished.

Wearing my beloved jacket today and feeling the love you poured into it.
